Practice Opportunities / Dental Workforce
The Fulfilling Iowa’s Need for Dentists (FIND) Project has been assisting dentists and dental students with establishing practice locations in Iowa since 2008. This project is an expansion of Delta Dental of Iowa’s dental education loan repayment program, which began in 2002. FIND continues to offer loan repayment to new graduates or practicing dentists, but through new partnerships the project also helps connect dental students with Iowa practice opportunities and community resources.
FIND is committed to connecting dentists and underserved communities with the resources needed to improve access to dental care in Iowa.
- The Iowa Practice Transitions Office (IPTO) at The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics helps new dental graduates connect with potential practice opportunities in Iowa. The IPTO also hosts a website for current dental practices and communities to post openings for new dentists.
- Through IPTO, dental students can also schedule one-on-one sessions with FIND partners who can assist with the FIND & GROW process of establishing a dental practice in Iowa.
- The Iowa Dental Association (IDA) can assist members with dental workforce information and practice opportunities. This includes a Classified Section on their website for publishing open positions and resumes.
- IDA also helps coordinate the American Dental Association Practice Transitions (ADAPT) Program, which matches dentists wanting to buy or sell a practice.
